Magicâ„¢ Tape Value Packs

by Susana Moscoso on 2007-11-15 08:06:09 - Email This

Name an item that is used every single day in offices around the world, and that is essential on every birthday and most holidays?

Scotch Tape!

Have you ever tried wrapping a present without tape? I have. I used a glue stick once. By the time I got to the birthday party, the present had practically unwrapped itself! Or how about the ribbon method - as in, tying ribbon around the present tight enough to hold all the tape-less wrapping paper on. It works to a degree, but not nearly as well as good old-fashioned tape.

So where did tape come from? Did people wrap presents before tape? Surely they weren't all using glue sticks!

Scotch Tape was invented in 1930 by Richard Drew, who worked for 3M at the time. Richard Drew was a marvel. Not only did he invent Scotch Tape, but he also invented Masking Tape!

Another man by the name of John A. Borden, also a 3M employee, invented the tape dispenser. Together, these two men revolutionized present wrapping, allowing us all to enjoy the holidays just a little bit more! They should have been awarded the Nobel Prize!

In case you haven't guessed, this week's Next Day Favorite is Scotch tape. I love the Magic™ Tape Value Packs, with 16 rolls per pack. No need to keep the old glue stick in stock, with 16 rolls I can wrap to my heart's content.
