Rechargeable Batteries
Have you done anything green today? Can you imagine being asked this 25 years ago? Heck, it was only three or four years ago that the SUV (preferably the Yukon or Navigator or Hummer – the bigger the better!) was the vehicle saving the US auto industry. My how times have changed and in a hurry!
As an individual who bought his first SUV just before gas prices spiked (sorry!), I’m not the ideal spokesman for all things green. I believe we can and should do some easy things that will really help over the long haul. Entire guides exist for how to “go green”, how to have a “carbon neutral footprint” or even “how to green your work”, so there's really no excuse for not taking some action.
One easy area to make small steps towards “green” is using rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries can be used for most “high-drain” equipment – cameras, video recorders, etc. – because they can be charged again and again. Since most alkaline batteries end up in a landfill, using rechargeable batteries are good both for your pocketbook and the environment.
As we head into the holiday season (and throughout the year), rechargeable batteries make some sense to include on your shopping list. Doing good for the environment doesn't have to be hard; little steps can make a difference.
