As mentioned earlier in the week, it’s not easy being green. But little things add up, and that’s why this week’s Next Day Favorite is something we’ve used all our lives without much thought to the impact it has on our environment: pens & pencils!

Per Green Living, every year we discard 1.6 million pens alone in the US. If you placed them end to end, they would stretch for over 150 miles! Many of these products are made from nonrenewable resources, or materials that damage the environment.

So what can we do to make a difference? My favorite product for this week is Paper Mate’s Earth Write Pencils. Made of 60% post-consumer waste, the casing of these pencils is made from recycled newspaper, with traditional #2 lead and a green eraser to advertise your commitment to our environment.
