The Employee Breakroom

Each workplace generally has the same standard components - a reception area, offices, cubicles, and restrooms.  But one thing that can vary drastically from workplace to workplace is the employee breakroom.

Some breakrooms consist of nothing more than a vending machine, stale coffee, a few wobbly tables, and chairs that may or may not be very comfortable.  Not so great.  I'd rather take a break in my car, which at the very least has a radio!

If you truly want to give your employees a break from the office - a place to regroup, refresh and rejuvenate in the midst of the daily grind - then you may want to consider a more innovative employee breakroom.

Start by replacing old, uncomfortable furniture with something a bit more inviting.  A nice leather sofa and chairs for a place to read and unwind, and tables and chairs to enjoy a meal.

Next, choose items that can provide a mental escape.  An LCD Flat Panel television, a few magazines, and perhaps even a ping pong table, depending on the available space, will help your employees relax and unwind in the heat of a busy day.

Finally, pay attention to the selection of treats available to your employees.  Make sure the vending machine includes healthy snacks in addition to the usual temptations.  Consider providing gourmet tea or cocoa as well as coffee, and have plenty of water on hand either in a water cooler or bottles.

Next Day Office Supplies has everything you need to turn your employee breakroom into a mid-day sanctuary (except for that ping pong table!).  Your employees will thank you, and you'll be rewarded in the long run with better work ethic and positive attitudes.
