History of the Pink Ribbon
According to Breast Cancer Action Montreal (BSAM) the breast cancer awareness pink ribbon symbol actually began as a peach ribbon in the early 1990s. It all started with a grandmother named Charlotte Haley who made ribbons by hand in her home to help raise breast cancer awareness (her daughter, sister and won grandmother all had breast cancer). She personally distributed thousands of ribbons with cards that read: "The National Cancer Institute annual budget is $1.8 billion. Only 5 percent goes for cancer prevention. Help us wake up our legislators and America by wearing this ribbon." Soon after, the PR machine adopted the idea and made it their own - by changing the color to pink.
By purchasing Pink Ribbon items on Next Day, you are contributing to proceeds donated to cancer research organizations. Fifty cents from each pack of Post-It® Notes for Breast Cancer Awareness will be donated to City of Hope for breast cancer research.
