If I got a nickel for every time I heard someone say, “Pick a job you love, no matter the payback (or lack thereof),” while growing up, I’d have a severely overstuffed piggy bank. Whether the words of advice were from those who knew the happiness side, or from those who settled with a cynical perspective, I know not. I didn’t keep track. According to Patrick Lencioni, the author of “The Three Signs of a Miserable Job,” 28% of employees are unhappy with their boss and the number one reason people quit their jobs is because they have a poor relationship with their boss. And every year, 2.5 million people quit their jobs. That’s a lot of money and time pumped into retraining.
