On the heels of my fantastic blog regarding technology, I wandered upon an article about tech junkies being “crazy about getting things done”. Feeling one with my geekness, I jumped at the opportunity to learn more about the dark side, to get a peek at the sort of trend that excites the movers and shakers of the IT world. I got even more excited when I saw this phenomenon had an acronym – GTD – you don’t get an acronym in the tech world if you aren’t really, really cool!
Sure that I was on the doorstep of a major discovery, a huge leap forward, I tore into the article to discover the key building blocks of GTD are Post-It notes and file folders. Shocked and dismayed, troubled that my reliance on all things electronic was supported by a secret culture of paper lovers, I nearly gave up my research until I realized three things: 1) I needed a blog for this week, 2) I buy into a lot of this theory, and 3) Next Day sells these building blocks!
I’ll come back to the topic in the future, but for now, let me give you a brief overview. GTD is grounded in the belief that organization frees the mind to have deeper, clearer thinking; organization removes clutter from the mind, clarifying thought, and organization properly done becomes a way of life that saves vast amounts of time and effort.
