Bond Street, Ltd. 125-lb. Capacity Luggage/Dolly Cart

My last job came with 18 thick binders. Each binder was jam-packed with manuals (known as facilitator guides and participant manuals) used to train healthcare professionals on a new computer system (Epic).

I didn’t have a desk or a cubicle. I did my best to try to keep track of all 18 binders (usually about 12 of them were stored in my trunk at one time). It was irritating when I couldn’t find the manual I needed for a particular class. But I couldn’t carry more than three or four binders at a time, so inevitably, they were scattered from coat closets to classrooms, to the backseat of my car. Thinking back on it, I probably would have saved myself a few gallons of gas if I wouldn’t have used my trunk as the main storage area.

I can’t complain about the actual job itself though, it was easy and flexible. But boy did I dislike carrying those loads of binders and boxes in and out of buildings and classrooms. It was straining, and quite frankly – it was a nuisance. Luckily, though, my back got a break once a month for an hour massage (thanks to a wonderful Christmas gift).

A few of my fellow trainers anticipated this annoyance from the beginning. To make the haul easier, they bought “wheely carts” with money from their own pockets. A couple of them even used oversized suitcases. I, on the other hand, refused to spend my own money on something for a contract job that was ending four months later. I guess you could say I’m a little bit stubborn, just a little bit.

Because I regret my decision to physically carry the binders instead of wheel them around, I’ve decided to make this week’s Next Day Favorite item the Bond Street Dolly Cart. For those of you who haul things in and out of places over and over, I advise you to invest in a Dolly Cart. You’ll be happy to have it and your back will be happier, too.
