Summer Activities for Kids
School is out for the summer, and kids everywhere are pumped. Wouldn’t it be great if you could also have a few months off to spend time with them? Unless you’re fortunate enough to have an occupation like that, you can’t, and the kids will have to entertain themselves. The bright side is that, with step-by-step instructions and some craft supplies from Next Day, they can be making beautiful art all summer long.
One of my favorite crafts as a child was making tissue paper flowers. I thought they looked super hard to do, but soon realized that just about anyone can make them!
You’ll need:
- multi-colored tissue paper
- chenille stems
What to do:
- stack 4 to 6 pieces of tissue paper. They can be all the same color or different colors, depending on what kind of flowers you want to make
- fold the stack accordion style, making sure you start from the long side
- twist one end of a chenille stem around the middle of the folded tissue paper
- carefully separate each layer and pull upwards toward the middle of the flower
Voila! You have a pretty flower to give to a friend, use as a decoration, or add more to make a bouquet.
